Hello Blog!
Today you get two posts. And in honor of the new series of Doctor Who coming out today I shall talk about my favorite episodes from last season. They are in appearing order not in I like this more than this order because I really loved all of series 5, but this ones I liked more.
1. The Eleventh Hour
The first episode for me is really important, it sets off what you might expect for the rest of the series. Amy's actituted arund the doctor, how everyone in town moves around her, you can tell she is tough enough to handle what might come her way and Rory how he is going to be the concern for safety guy. And the Doctor with the always being late, the scary allien in this one (not scary looking, but come one taking the image of someone else is scary) and his warning.
2. The Beast Below
The first time I saw this episode I liked it for Amy, how she makes the decision for her imaginary friend, the raggedy Doctor, and her excitement, as if she was a little girl, when she sees the ship it was just amazing, again weird things going around the place and their turning heads. I didn't like the Doctor so much the first time I saw the episode, I felt that Tennant's angry-ness at the choice he had to make was missing, then I watched it again, made myself not think about Tennant but of Smith as a brand new one and then I really liked Smith, I felt that 11 was going to be a Doctor that was going to get angry, mad and that the person with fire inside that cared about everyone was not lost. But I still don't think 11 looks scary when he is angry, 9 & 10 did.
3. Amy's Choice
The Doctor hunting himself, the pain in Smith eyes and Amy realizing who she really loves, I know last season the companion wasn't in love with the Doctor BUT I'm not ready for him or the Companion to be in love with each other. Rose is fresh in my memory and so is Martha and I really don't like Martha and I don't want another Martha around. Also I love Rory even with his stupid ponytail.
4. The Time of Angels / Flesh and Stone. I count this as one.
It has the Weeping Angels being creepier, River ¨tormenting¨ the Doctor and the Doctor being uncomfortable, the Doctor is worried about Amy, and his eyes (to me) look like he is concerned for the 7 year old he just met. It also has that scene of the Doctor w/yet and w/no jacket that had me thinking over and over again. As I've mentioned before I love River, or the actress that plays her, and I like this not meeting in order and being her that know ¨everything¨ for a change instead of the Doctor.
5. Vincent and the Doctor.
I love Vincent Van Gogh, and I wished I could find books that talked about his life. So, I love this episode because it shows what a brilliant mind he had, how he took his suffering and translated it to beautiful paintings, how he sees the pain in Amy when she doesn't see it herself. And Tony Currans's acting when he sees his painting and listens to Bill Nighy praise his work it just brakes my heart. And then Amy when she sees that it didn't matter, that he still ended his life. I just really like this episode.
6. The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang.
Rory is back and River made a HUGE graffiti!! No but seriously it is huge! :p
Everyone is back from Vincent to Churchill to Liz 10, everyone is trying to save the Doctor, again. How all the enemies came back, even if they weren't in this series to begin with, to destroy him. How they creeped into Amy's mind to make the perfect trap and then all the craziness with the jumping in time, the fezz. Rory's faces all through the episode, Amy's speech, the Doctor not being sure if he just asked River to marry him and then to close it nicely the drunk giraffe dance.
^About this episode I have a question. When River is trying to get that Vortex Manipulator, the guy that sells it to River in the bar says: ¨Fresh of the wrist of a handsome Time Agent¨ that bar looks awfully similar to where 10 last sees Captain Jack. You don't think he is talking about him do you?
