Weddings, driving, dancing.

Yesterday, Saturday October 29, I had two weddings.
In one my dad's cousin was getting married in Tlayacapan a magical town here in Mexico about an hour an a half away from my house, it's in another state but we live close to the road that takes you there.
In the other one, my old neighbor was getting married in Lomas Verdes, which is NW out of the city, about a 2-3 hour drive from my house depending on traffic. We lived next to each other for over 10 years, he is like my brother, we would all go out on our bikes or when his two cousins Jessie and Erica were there we would watch movies. They are amazing, they were teens that liked spending time with their kids neighbors.

My day went like this:
I woke up at 7 am to get ready* for the 1st wedding, I wore a manta dress, with pink and purple accessories and sandals. It looked really pretty went with the vibe and place of the wedding and my hair was curly, success on my hair products. We stopped about half way through our driving to eat in a quesadillas place that was next to the road.. Didn't like it much, the coffee was cold and instead of serving me a taco they gave me a half order. The food was not bad, but I wasn't happy with it.
The  invite said to be there at 12:30 so we thought the wedding would be at 1 pm, we got there at 11 am ´cause dad was sure the wedding would be at 12:30. We get to the church there was no one and nothing there, the church had no flowers, no one form the family was there. I see a woman that seemed to work for the church, she did, I asked about the wedding it was at 1 pm. With no one there and nothing to do, we headed out to the plaza in front of the church. It was full of people and stands, the people were there mainly for the Chaman gathering that was taking place and the stands were there for the 2011 Feria del Barro (mud? fair). We found a small restaurant and waited there for 1 pm to come, we had some coffee and Cajeta Crepes al Tequila (they were so good)

The wedding started around 1:30. After the wedding ended and the newlyweds stepped out to a shower of withe roses petals, we left to go to the next wedding.

Dad stopped in a gas station about 30 minutes after we left to get some chips, soda and gas. About an hour after that we stopped at a rest stop in the Cuernavaca-Mexico city road to eat, again it was a quesadillas place. Then we continued driving. Once at Mexico City dad stopped in a McDonald's. Mom and I raced to the bathrooms and changed our dresses. Dad did the same to change his suit. The sis was using the same dress. I wore a strapless latte brown dress with black heart shaped spirals.
The dress is so pretty and I look tall and for anyone that knows me it shows how much weight I've lost, and it covered the muffin tops I have. Back to the car in 10 minutes. We did our make-up in the car.

Then we got lost twice trying to get to the church. We got to see the wedding last 15 minutes. Back to the car and to the party. Newlyweds show up, do their first dance and the father-daughter / mother-son dance, cut the cake, everyone to the dance floor for 20 minutes or so until we are told to return to our table to eat.

The entrée were rolls in a weird green sauce. The filling was not mixed properly and the sauce had a ewe texture. Then there was a potato-turnip creme which was nice, followed by pork tenderloins in a gravy sort of sauce with potatoes filled of mash potatoes and a chocolate cake.

After that back to dancing. I danced with my sis, my mom, my dad, my cousins, aunts and uncles**, there were few songs I didn't danced. I was dancing rock and roll with one of my uncles when my sis showed up to dance again with him, he called one of his nephews which I've never met before (which is weird) and sent me to dance with him. He is a good dancer and he kept twirling me so much I got dizzy.

Then all the lights came up and all the music stopped. Cue for everyone to leave and we did.

The day was so amazing. I got to see family and friends that I hadn't seen in years, I danced a lot and got to see two people I care about get married to someone they love.

* Hair, make-up, necklace, perfume, everything.
**The mom of Abraham and her family as kids were neighbors of my mom as a kid, our families have known each other for over 30 years, so we are their neices and they are our aunts, uncles, cousins...

Medicine + Dreaming = ?

*Moves boxes* *dusts off* Oh look, my blog!

Hello!
I got sick last week, the doctor* sent me some medicines and told me not to go out**.

This mixture of medicines has given me a series of really weird dreams:

Like being in the Land with Tracy and not being able to help her keep the Balance and Lisa being crossed with me because of it***.

Or some nightmares, like not being aloud into LeakyCon because somehow I had food-poisoned someone. Or being told in school that I had failed all my classes****

But last night I had a really nice and funny dream which I shall tell you right now, because the ones in the dream told me to (not in the dream).

I was at work and I got a text telling me to please answer my phone and to check FB*****, it was signed S-E-N. After freaking out a bit, I check FB and I see that I have a bunch of private messages from the girls asking about my spring brake when it was and stuff, anyway some of this were about 3 weeks old.

While trying to answer them I get a call from an unknown number, it was Erica; she wasn't happy with getting "that recording in Spanish over and over" she wanted to know about my non existent spring brake plans. And she was wondering if I could go pick them up to the airport later that week.
I thought she was kidding, even though she gave me a flight number & everything.

- Then I woke up because my alarm started. I feel asleep again, by then it was Friday in dreamland.-

Friday, second to last day of work before spring brake and I get a phone call from a really annoyed Silvia wanting to know where I was and why I was there. My boos kept laughing at me, apparently my face looked funny and allowed to go to the airport but u had to go back to work.

I called my mom, she yelled at me for not letting her know in time, we went to the airport picked up Erica, Nikki and Silvia and went back to work. They decided to stay there with me, which my mom thanked so she could clean the house******.

My boss and coworkers laughed at me because Pilar (she is in charge of the salty cuisine) wanted me to give them a tour of the school and the girls were in uniform asking stuff and I was trying to explain them in English.

The girls started to get hungry and Pilar said that I should show off my learnt skills, thankfully our vegan chef was there and he helped me make some food.

Then dad went to pick me up after work, he was surprised to see them there, he thought mom was joking about "3 girls showing up in the airport and me not believing my friends".

The girls had plans to visit at least one Mexican beach and some other places, so we ended up asking for a mom's car and decided to make a tour of some of my favorite cities and Old Mystical Towns and visit Puerto Vallarta and Ixtapa.

*Not the one from Gallifrey, she was from Tlalpan.
**Mom was there, so I've been in my house since Sunday, only been out to go to the doctor.
***If you didn't get that reference it means you haven't read the Quest Series, what are you waiting for?! http://www.thequestbooks.com/purchase.html
****I tried saying Ridikulus but Pilar wasn't a bogart.
*****I rarely use/check FB so I'm wouldn't be surprised if something like thus happened.
******Our house is not dirty or messy but mom pretty much want the flora to shine when people visit.

BEDA # 27 Exams

Hello Blog!

This is going to be a short blog. Tomorrow I have Italian exam, and E&S exam.

Tomorrow I start learning how to pick up a tray, how to leave it and how to move around with a trade full of glasses with water. And it is all very stressful, because tomorrow is he day that I have to go all dressed up, with make-up and all. And because today my Hair decided to go for Hermione instead of for Rachel .like it had been doing all week, I'm ironing it again.

I'm not good at ironing so my mom is helping me out, and this is the only 5 minutes I have to blog before I return to studying for my Italian exam.

I hope to have something better and thought out tomorrow.

BEDA # 26 Collections

Hello Blog!

Do you guys collect things? I do, and I collect a lot of different things, below is the order in which I started collecting them.

1. Coins or bills. My grandad collected coins and my mom gave me a small bag that had them, every time thy were going to change the shape or something about a coin he would keep one of the ¨old ones¨ and one of the ¨new ones¨. Now I do the same with coins and bills that change, to that I've also added foreign coins. I have British coins, a Peso from the Philippines, and I also have a collection of the quarters that the US made, the ones that have a state in one of the faces of the coin. I think I'm only missing 5.

2. Postcards. When I was younger we used to drive a lot, and because I didn't have a camera of my own to take pictures at the buildings I wanted and instead I had to be in the picture, so I started buying postcards. I always buy at least 1 postcard wherever I go, this includes theme parks. I always have a hard time just picking 2 at Disney and Universal.

3. Key rings. One of my uncles used to go out on weekends a lot, and he would always bring something from where eve his parties had taken him to my sis and I, he used to bring this funny and awesome key-rings. I was 7 and didn't have keys so I started keeping them in a box. Then I started looking at nice key-rings while looking at the postcards. And so I began my keyring collection. I have some fun ones, a key-shaped one that has one of the coins from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, a dice one from the science museum in London, a friend bought me an Eiffel tower shaped one when she went to Paris, and I had one that my aunt bought me in Alaska that had a small seal, a polar bear, that I lost.

4. Cups. Concerts are expensive and buying at the concert is too, so instead of buying T's that are around the 250 pesos, I buy cups that most of the time have the same print of the shirt for 50-80 pesos. They look really nice in my bookshelf, and if needed could be used by guests as my dad says (but mom always has extra cups or disposable cups, if guest needed them, its quite possible they'd be drunk and could smash it).

5. Pennies. You know those machines at theme parks (most of the time) that print something into the penny and makes it longer? Well those pennies I collect. I've got some from Disney, Knot's Berry Farm and a few from Boston, there was a mall like an hour or so walk away (I realized that when I got back on the 3rd day and the concierge was worried because I looked really red and wanted to know if I felt OK, and then asked why didn't I take the subway) the LeakyCon hotel, and in that park they had a few of those machines that had important buildings. The small bag containing those coins and some cash got lost in the Atlanta airport.

6. Bookmarks. My favorite bookstore-chain in Mexico (called Gandhi) makes bookmarks that have clever/funny lines and some quotes, so I started collecting those, an independent bookstore near my old elementary always had bookmarks that had pictures/scenes of books turned into movies, I have like 8 or so of HP&GoF, my aunts and friends started bringing me bookmarks (instead of postcards) of the places they went. The ones I like the most are a London Eye one that has all the info of it in the back, one a friend brought me from Veracruz that has my name, one I bought from a native in Tajin and ¨Give yourself another page¨ by Gandhi.

BEDA # 25 Artiness, kinda

Hello Blog!

Today I ask twitter to choose between 2 topics and twitter choose art. So below are some of the things I've drawn or painted over the last 6 years or so. Most of them are things I saw but only changed the way they were presented on the first place.

One of the things I loved the most about my drawing class was this, painting with dots. I never managed to do this properly with paint but I'm fairly good with fine point markers.

This is the first oil paint I made, we were supposed to paint what we saw in the classroom. My teacher liked that I left the old paint stains that our classroom had, so it was part of that years exhibit.
This one has marble dust, we were experimenting with texture, and I used oil paint.

This I made for LeakyCon '09. I did a lot of this type of fan-art but they were among my school work that my teacher kept.

My first chalk drawing attempt.

And I did this last week.

I don't know if taking the same things to LeakyCon would be good, or if I shouldn't take any fan-art with me at all.

BEDA # 24 Doctor Who - River Song theories

Hello Blog!

Happy Easter! if you celebrate it, if not Happy Sunday!

Today I'm going to talk about Doctor Who, again. About yesterday's episode, so I'll be talking about all the rumors around the characters that I've heard, some that I thought of and some that my friends have told me. So, if you don't want to know about Doctor Who theories stop reading now. This will be basically about River Song.

In Flesh and Stone River tells the Doctor that she ¨killed the best man [she]'d ever known¨. This made me think of the Doctor at first, then it all seemed not possible because then she wouldn't have sacrificed herself in Forest of the Dead. But then again, time can be re-written.

The Eleventh Doctor starts and River shows up again, and there are parts in the show in which River acts weird around Amy, it reminded me of how she moved around Donna in Silence in the Library. But then she doesn't recognize Rory as a Roman, so that kinda killed the theory about being Rory who she kills.*

So this for me leaves the Doctor again. And this is where I enter what a friend Dulce told me today.

This theory is that River kills the Doctor, and that the kid inside the Astronaut uniform is River as a kid. The only thing wrong I see with this, is that River have tried to kill the astronaut as he stepped into the water.
But I've been thinking about this all day and I think it could happen.

Remember how when Rose is trying to get back to the Doctor she tells Jackie that the doctor took her to met her dad ans that she was with him when he died. She tells Jackie to remember. Time had been re-written so maybe that could indeed be River, and although the are both ¨going in opposite directions¨ the Doctor would have know all along how he and she die.

This also means that River's Doctor is Eleven. which means that Ten wasn't that young, well fine maybe a couple hundred years younger but you know what I mean.

One last thing. WTH is up about Amy being pregnant (if you haven't seen Doctor Who Confidential do it NOW), this makes me think a lot about how things ended in Torchwood with one of the team being pregnant.

Someone asked me why I liked River, one of the reasons is the actress I really, really like her. Another is because I like the Doctor not being the one that knows it all for a change, and the last one is because their relationship reminds me of The Time Traveler's Wife, he met her as a kid, she fell in love, by the time he meets her she has the ¨spoilers¨ and he sort of has to play along because it is something that already happened anyway.

Days until LeakyCon: 79
This time I have 2 quotes, one that I think is talking about this episode and the whole series:
The Doctor: Don't know. Let's see if someone tries to kill us, and work backwards.
And the next one just because it is Eleven's kinda humor:
The Doctor: I wear a Stetson now. Stetson's are cool.

*I just realized this ¨not recognizing¨ while rewatching The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang yesterday.

BEDA # 23 Doctor Who Series 5

Hello Blog!

Today you get two posts. And in honor of the new series of Doctor Who coming out today I shall talk about my favorite episodes from last season. They are in appearing order not in I like this more than this order because I really loved all of series 5, but this ones I liked more.

1. The Eleventh Hour
The first episode for me is really important, it sets off what you might expect for the rest of the series. Amy's actituted arund the doctor, how everyone in town moves around her, you can tell she is tough enough to handle what might come her way and Rory how he is going to be the concern for safety guy. And the Doctor with the always being late, the scary allien in this one (not scary looking, but come one taking the image of someone else is scary) and his warning.

2. The Beast Below
The first time I saw this episode I liked it for Amy, how she makes the decision for her imaginary friend, the raggedy Doctor, and her excitement, as if she was a little girl, when she sees the ship it was just amazing, again weird things going around the place and their turning heads. I didn't like the Doctor so much the first time I saw the episode, I felt that Tennant's angry-ness at the choice he had to make was missing, then I watched it again, made myself not think about Tennant but of Smith as a brand new one and then I really liked Smith, I felt that 11 was going to be a Doctor that was going to get angry, mad and that the person with fire inside that cared about everyone was not lost. But I still don't think 11 looks scary when he is angry, 9 & 10 did.

3. Amy's Choice
The Doctor hunting himself, the pain in Smith eyes and Amy realizing who she really loves, I know last season the companion wasn't in love with the Doctor BUT I'm not ready for him or the Companion to be in love with each other. Rose is fresh in my memory and so is Martha and I really don't like Martha and I don't want another Martha around. Also I love Rory even with his stupid ponytail.

4.  The Time of Angels / Flesh and Stone. I count this as one.
It has the Weeping Angels being creepier, River ¨tormenting¨ the Doctor and the Doctor being uncomfortable, the Doctor is worried about Amy, and his eyes (to me) look like he is concerned for the 7 year old he just met. It also has that scene of the Doctor w/yet and w/no jacket that had me thinking over and over again. As I've mentioned before I love River, or the actress that plays her, and I like this not meeting in order and being her that know ¨everything¨ for a change instead of the Doctor.

5. Vincent and the Doctor.
I love Vincent Van Gogh, and I wished I could find books that talked about his life. So, I love this episode because it shows what a brilliant mind he had, how he took his suffering and translated it to beautiful paintings, how he sees the pain in Amy when she doesn't see it herself. And Tony Currans's acting when he sees his painting and listens to Bill Nighy praise his work it just brakes my heart. And then Amy when she sees that it didn't matter, that he still ended his life. I just really like this episode.

6. The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang.
Rory is back and River made a HUGE graffiti!! No but seriously it is huge! :p
Everyone is back from Vincent to Churchill to Liz 10, everyone is trying to save the Doctor, again. How all the enemies came back, even if they weren't in this series to begin with, to destroy him. How they creeped into Amy's mind to make the perfect trap and then all the craziness with the jumping in time, the fezz. Rory's faces all through the episode, Amy's speech, the Doctor not being sure if he just asked River to marry him and then to close it nicely the drunk giraffe dance.
^About this episode I have a question. When River is trying to get that Vortex Manipulator, the guy that sells it to River in the bar says: ¨Fresh of the wrist of a handsome Time Agent¨ that bar looks awfully similar to where 10 last sees Captain Jack. You don't think he is talking about him do you?

BEDA # 22

Hello Blog!

Sorry about not posting anything yesterday.

Yesterday I spent my day catching up with interwebz stuff, I read and watched about a weeks worth BEDAs and VEDAs, then I catch up on YouTube videos, and a bit on tumblr, just the ones that  I have in my Google Reader, I haven't actually checked tumblr in a while, it was part of the things i tried to give up this year, reduce my tumblr checking to once a week, and I think I've checked it 3 times in total, so it was good.

One of the reasons I didn't post something yesterday was because of what I read in Kayley's Blog about what people's BEDA/VEDA were not as good as the first posts and that people should have gotten into this with a plan and such, and it had me thinking all day.

I'm not a writer or a dancer or a musician my only artiness is that I draw/paint but not very often, most people that I follow are good in any of the above; Allie writes the most amazing blogs and I am always shock when I read that such a young person can express herself so well.
As I said on the first blog I'm doing this to know how to express myself in written form in English for the essays and such that I'll have to write to get into any of the Unis I'm going to apply for next year. And I feel that I have failed to do so.

So this is my plan for next week. I've been taking photos of my city here and there, and I think I have enough to make a kinda Thoughts from Places kinda blogs. And I promise to pay attention to everything around me so I can come up with a nice blog.

BEDA # 20 Cartoons

Hello Blog!

Yesterday's blog, I wrote it while I was at the gym, then I got home to find the news about Elisabeth Sladen and the happiness of my dream kinda left.

So today is gonna be a little bit short, because being the masochist the I am, I spent yesterday looking at photos from her, tumblr post, some clips and trying to find some Classic Doctor Who online. If any of you have a link where I can find it it will be greatly appreciated because I found nothing that I could play here in Mexico.

Today Channel 5 was having a Rugrats special, they were airing Rugrats Go Wild was one when I was having breakfast, around 11 am, and Rugrats in Paris was one when I was eating, around 2 pm, but I couldn't watch wither because of my mom and my sister's stupid liking of soccer.

So now I'm gonna try and find any Rugrats movie, because I'm nit happy and I want to watch something that I watched as a kid and that made me happy.

Funny note, the waiters at the gym's cafe (they are in their 20s) looked at me weird but agreed that watching Rugrats was good for you every once in a while.

They also looked at me weird when I told one of them, he should dress as Sokka for ¨El DĂa del Niño¨, apparently I don't look like the cartoon liking kinda girl. Which I'm kinda not for I don't watch anime but I watch cartoons.

BEDA # 19 LeakyCon dreams

Hello Blog!

Lately I've been dreaming a lot about LeakyCon, and things Potter fandom related, there has also been a couple of nightmare but I think those happened because I was watching a lot of  Vampire Diaries and Criminal Minds type of show. But yesterday a really nice dream happened and I'm gonna share it with you.
Few things before I start:  I'm arriving to Orlando a few days before LeakyCon, I'm going to use the online names I know you with if I don't know your IRL name.

In my dream I was reading City of Bones by the pool of the hotel when I hear a bunch of girls being really noise and annoying and not letting me read. One of them was saying that Maureen was not going to be found in the pool, she was probably in her room looking into last minute things of LitDay or she was at Hogwarts.

At this words I turn around to see Nikki, Silvia, Justine, Jessie, Kim, 2 other girls and 1 guy who I think is Jordan but I'm not sure how he looks like. So Silvia is making a video with Justine and they are saying how mission Maureen is not going too good, when I decide to kreep them out, by sneaking behind them and start speaking to the camera in a weird mash up of Spanish-Italian-French talking, Justine looked kinda amused by this, but Silvia looked kinda angry at me, until Nikki started laughing because she was the only one that recognized me, after that she screamed way too loud and almost pushed us all to the pool. Bad idea considering I had a book, my camera and iPhone in my hands and Justine and Silvia also had a camera with them.

After looking around the lobby and not finding Maureen and Justine not getting any info in the front desk they decided to get back to their hotel, Nikki why are you staying in another hotel BTW?. And I walked with them up to the park because I was heading to City-Walk to go eat at because I was craving white rice.

>Then a new dream started, I had to go move my do because she was snoring.<

The day before LeakyCon I was getting back from checking out a mall that is near the hotel and had managed to find shoes that go with the dress* I got for the LeakyCon Ball and I was really happy about this, and making numbers on how much I had expend because I was using a card and not cash, when someone shouted my name.

It was Dulce and Emily who were deciding where to have dinner and then invited me to go with them. After leaving my stuff in my room, roommate hadn't arrived yet, I went with them to City Walk, we had dinner and then we ended up by the pool playing wrock as loud as our iPods could go and then had a few drinks because I'm 21 and I haven't had a drink in the US, or in Mexico for that matter**.

Then we each headed to our respective rooms and that was it.

Next day I woke up early, went to get coffee and found Ariel on my way back to the hotel, this time I was the one that scramed¨and nearly left the valet parking deaf with my high pitch SQUEEEEEEE. I went to my room to get my bag of gifts to give around during registration***, found that my roommate was finally up, gave him a coffee and headed downstairs to registration. After waiting in line with Ariel and a couple of her friends and getting registered we went to have some breakfast and then set a time to headed to the park.

I was looking for Nikki or Justine or someone from the group to see if they wanted to go to the park when I thought I saw Allie, I mean Ron, wearing a hoodie and trying to stay hidden next to another girl that was doing the same thing. After getting nearer and making sure it was Allie, I heard Jessies voice and started shouting NIGHT TROLLL, then Jennifer started laughing and telling Allie that keeping the secret wasn't going to last. Allie had managed to convince her parents to let her go to LeakyCon and Jennifer had won a LeakyCon entrance and Allie's mom was there.

Then we agreed on a time to be outside the park, then Dulce agreed. And so the most amazing and (for me) biggest group of awesome people headed to the park. Somehow, even with all the people there, we managed to managed to cross the gates, all in line, shoulder to shoulder and so we were inside of The Wizarding World of  Harry Potter.

After we had calmed our giggles and excitement we got frozen Butterbeers which tasted amazing, looked around the park, started on the shopping, saw a couple of wrockers that were there, ate, admired the park. Then we headed back to the hotels to get ready for that evening's event.

The next thing I remember dreaming about this group of amazing people was having a blast at the Ball, everyone looking pretty and crying our eyes out when they played End of an Era, the loosing our voices to Total Eclipse of the Heart and The Weapon we have is love.

I also dremed about Leaky peeps and about Andrew's speeches which was what made me feel I wasn't dreaming because they were really well expressed and well really long. But that is for another post.

All I will say is, this makes me want to hug Josh now and take a lot of pictures with Farrah because (should I use her expression?... that bitch looked good.

^She will be missed.

* I still don't have a dress, but my mind seems to have one.
** I mean as in buying a drink, on the rare ocassion that I drink I am at someone's house.
*** I still haven't decided what I'm going to make, but I like what I saw on my dream, so one less thing to think about  I guess.

BEDA # 18 on the iPhone

Hello blog!

Try nĂºmero 2 in trying to write/post a blog via iPhone while being at the gym. I must say it is amusing tonwrite like this because the page moves as if I was typing on of those old typing machines, I love the noise those make.

Today haw been pretty awesome, I had a really hard tome waking up and not even Nikki "shaking" me via interwebz could wake me up.

But then I played some WROCK - The House Song specifically- and then the My First Kiss Paradoy that Alex, Jason and Kristina did and I managed to get ready in time.

While eating sis rained on my parade, she got mad because I was "discussing" with my mom about something in the Deathly Hallows movie and she got mad and told me to shut up because it was only a movie, so I told her to shut up because she was only watching a game on TV, yes I rained on her parade too.
I had my 1st Starbucks in months and a blubbery muffin for dessert.

I spent my afternoon watching The Lion King and painting with chalks The Knightbus and Dobby.

And now I'm finishing this while watching TV.

BEDA # 17 Lazy Sunday

Hello Blog!

Today has been a bit slow, I woke up late, had breakfast fast because the family was watching Little Fockers and I can't stand Ben Stiller for more than 20 minutes.

The I made my bed, picked up my room a bit, watched Beauty Shop with the sis, she had never seen it before, and I love Queen Latifah.

I've spent my day catching up on my Order of the Phoenix reading, and just took an hour brake to eat with the family.

And like a 15 minute brake to take out books and open windows with quotes to entertain my friend Nikki while she was at work, I think I need to look into them again, for they seem to be too hard, I only asked her like 4 in 4 hours or so. Either that or work was crazy today.

And now I'll go back to finishing chapter 15 of Order of the Phoenix, I should be on 21 by today, and I'll watch the Deathly Hallows DVD after.

BEDA # 16 LeakyCon clothes.

Hello Blog!

I'm not someone who puts a lot of thinking into what I wear, probably because most ¨cool clothes¨ when I was a teen were only for skinny girls, so I made up my mind into finding clothes that I like, not that someone else says I should like, and that I feel comfortable wearing them.

But lately I've been thinking a LOT about clothes. Why? ___ LeakyCon.

It is going to be so warm in Orlando, I avoid wearing shorts at all costs but I don't think I'll be able to wear jeans in Orlando. Another item of clothing I'm not a fan of is tank tops but then again the weather.

I don't own a lot of nerdy T's, I own 4 HP T's that is all my nerdy clothes and 2 of them are black, might not be a good idea.

Then we have the dress for the LeakyCon ball, I really wanted to get a Hufflepuff-ish dress but I haven't found a single one in those colors. I would like to take some dresses to wear at any other night event that might happen, but I don't want to take a lot of clothes, or to take a lot of different colors so I don't have to take a lot of shoes, I wear size 10, so those take a lot of space.

Then there is that question that I keep trowing to the back of my mind, should I take a swimsuit? If I'm not comfortable wearing shorts I am less comfortable wearing a swimsuit. Blame my overweight and lack of nice family members.

So I'm wondering, should I buy tank tops before I go to LeakyCon, or should I just wear the WROCK T's I hope to buy during LeakyCon. And I guess I'll have to buy shorts too, but swimsuit still not sure.

BEDA # 15 Stupid Connection

Yesterday my Internet connection was being crappy and I had to keep restarting my computer. So I wrote yesterday's BEDA on my phone. I guess posting via SMS doesn't wok outside the US. This really sucks, because it took me longer than usual to write this, I never wrote that much on my iPhone, and I usually type fast so there were a lot of typos and words that my phone decided to change =/

This means today you'll be getting to blogs! OK? I'll re-type what I wrote yesterday below and then I'll post today's BEDA.

Hello blog!

The Internet is being lame, so I'm writing this on my phone and keeping my fingers cross that this works.*

Today was kinda slow but I think it was productive in it's own way.
We got out of the house late, so we headed straight to have breakfast at the gym's cafe and skipped working out (I'll explain in the next paragraph). I had an ¨Arabe ClĂ¡sico¨ (Classic Arabic?) which is basically a sandwich but with pita bread, it has turkey and avocado and lettuce and creamy cheese and it is delicious!

Then we went to my mom's dentist appointment, the specialist that worked with our dentist doesn't have his office there, and because today was the last day of school nation wide before Semana Santa (Holy Week) which is kinda like Spring Brake but for everyone. He got stuck in traffic and got there 45 minutes late. 30 minutes later we were heading home. The dentist told mom not to stay in the sun/warm weather** and not to workout the next 48 hours to avoid pain.

On our way home we stopped at Block-Buster to pick up my copy of Deathly Hallows, SQUEE!! which I had already pre-ordered. I'll watch it later when it's darker, because thanks to the house ¨renovation¨ we are a few blinds short in the TV-DVD/everything room which makes the TV look crappy.

***

Now I'll go continue with my catching up on my ¨read a chapter a day of the books in order until Deathly Hallows part 2 come out¨ thing. We are in Order of the Phoenix right now and I only read the first 2 days, so the first 2 chapters, and we are supposed to be on chapter 19 by now.

BEDA #14 Today

I have no idea what to blog about!!!

So I recap of today will have to do.

I forgot to put my phone to charge last night, so the alarm didn't went on today, so instead of waking up at 6:30 like I had to to get my hair done, and everything for class I woke up at 7:45 like I do on the other days I have class.

This meant my hair was a mess because I had no time to straighten it to look pretty, my makeup was done in a rush, it looked good but not as good as I wanted it to look.

Only good part is that I still somehow managed to be ready in 30 minutes, with uniform and all. But I got out of the house 20 minutes late there was a LOT of traffic, we had to change the route like 3 times, but still managed to get to school early.

I had Italian first, I remembered just before class we had homework and did it just before walking into class. We'll have exam the week after next (next week is Spring Brake YAY!) and she was telling us about having to prepare some stuff for it.

Then we had S&E class, and we had an extra hour of that because my professor (who is amazing BTW) is taking a course to be a coffee taster now, so she missed last week's class to go to her course to Veracruz to one of the coffee farms (?) they have there.

We learned about the restaurant and bar organogram, and how to split tips, and what every person in the organogram is supposed to know and do and another bunch of stuff. I really love Thursday classes except for the whole dressy uniform-makeup-jewelry thing.

Then I went to the gym, then I showered, then I ate. I had one of the best broccoli coups ever.

I got home, and started watching some ´Vampire Diaries, almost up to date. :)

Then I watched the Glee Superbowl episode. Finally the new episodes arrived to Mexico.

And now I'm typing this, and I'm slightly hungry, maybe because I've only eaten once today?

So, that was my day.

BEDA #12 Originals, Spin-offs, Remakes

Hello Blog!

I'm someone who is loyal to the shows I watch, to the character, to the actors and lately to the director and producer, thanks you whovians who now make me check the episode's name, who wrote it and who directed it.

With Doctor Who, I don't only watch DW, I also watch Torchwood and Sarah Jane.
I'm a CSI fan, and I usually watch CSI Miami, I don't like the NY one. The same with Grey's Anatomy I also watch Private Practice.

I love ER, but I had to stop watching after they killed Dr. Green, I just couldn't take it, but I watched the last 2 seasons, it made me SO happy to see the Doctors. that had left again, the death in flashbacks. And having Dr Green's kid and widow (Dr. River Song from Doctor Who) in the very last episode was amazing.

I guess that is why I like seeing Dr. Song on Doctor Who, I missed her being in my TV, the same way I miss Catherine Tate. Though non of them have actually been in my TV for a really long tame.

Anyway, I'm drifting from what I wanted to talk.

If I saw the original version of the show, and I liked it, I'd watch the 1st episode of who ever is making a ¨new¨ version, if I didn't like it I won't watch it ever again, if I haven't to be stuck with watching it, things might get a little ugly.

There are 2 soap-operas from Argentina that I love, one is called Floricienta and the other is called Patito Feo. Both of them had a Mexican version, which I didn't like, OK I loaded them, and when my sis who only saw Floricienta the original one, watched them and I had to watched them with her I sometimes couldn't take the destroying of the story I felt they were making.

With Floricienta, it is like Cinderella in the modern world, with a mean step sister and her mean mother, the handsome rich guy and everything, the ¨twist¨ was that the rich guy was in charged of his brothers and sister because the parents were dead and he dated the step sister, they don't find out they are family until about 8 months into the show. The rich guy dies, he kinda takes over the body of a Count to let Flor know he loves her even in death and that the Count will be there to protect her and his brothers from the crazy sis, the Count ends up falling for Flor, she gets pregnant they get married, and help the kids (family of the dead guy) become successful in what they love. The soap was on for almost 2 years, so 2 seasons.

When they did the Mexican version, the lead girl is my age and they did the soap when she was 17, the rich guy he falls for was in his mid 20s but he looks a bit older, I mean, some of the brothers were older than the lead, and she looked younger, how the hell was she supposed to end up pregnant. What the network end up doing was do a mash up of season 1 without killing the guy and ending the story there.

With the second soap, the girl Patricia (called Patito) had an amazing voice, and they chose another Mexican girl who can sing to do that part, well that was annoying 'cause the Mexican girl kept trying to do the same voice/musical wonders the girl from Argentina can do (this is just a tiny take of what and how she sings), so it sounded like an animal was being tortured, plus the awful casting they had. With that one, I ended up eating some place else if they were watching it because it was painful to watch it.

With Skins it's the same, I watched the 1st episode, didn't like it. For me, it felt like they were trying to act a lot like the UK cast but also really trying not to be similar, does that make sense? Besides the fact that the guy they have for Tony looks a lot like Cook from UK series 2 of Skins.

We also have Being Human, now I know finding a hot-gorgeous-amazing actor as Aidan was going to be tough, but the guy they have? Does he look like a vampire to you? To me it looks like one of those demons from Charmed.

After the first episode, I didn't watch the rest of either of those shows US edition.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this post anymore, I started it hours ago, had to do something else, and now that I'm back what ever pushed me to write this is gone.

Are there any shows that you love, that got a remake or a spin-off you didn't like, or are you not as crazy as me and don't care about the changes and are able to watch it.

BEDA #11 Lazy teammate

Hello Blog!

Today I'm gonna talk about school. So let me explain to you how my school works, only in what concerns kitchen classes.

There are up to 20 per class and we are divided into teams of 4 to work, this is to simulate how it will be like once we are actually working in a kitchen.
My group started with 20 last August but right now we are 13, this means 3 teams of 3 and 1 team of 4, this is for salty/cold kitchen for bakery we have an extra person who is in my team so far that class we are 14.

Anyway, in both of my classes I work with the same two other girls, one is in her 30s, has a kid and works in the family restaurant, which has amazing food btw, and the other is a 22 girl who is !"#"#%$%&$% annoying.

She NEVER listens, NEVER does what she asked to do, ALWAYS makes a mistake that ends up screwing the recipe we are supposed to be making. I don't know if she dumb, doesn't give a crap or has dyslexia. But honestly I don't care anymore.
All she does is wash the dishes and move around doing NOTHING around my other teammate and me and telling us to speed things up 'cause she has a date with her bf.
Honestly if all she cares about is that, why doesn't she just quit school and marry and do whatever her bf wants her to do.
I can't stand someone who goes to Culinary School just to have something to do during the day and possibly learn how to cook, it is because of people like that, that the career is joke to a lot of people, that I've been told I'm only doing this to please my future husband. I don't even think about getting married!
I also hate having to carry death weight, and honestly she rarely does something that doesn't screw things up to think otherwise.
Today we made filled tomatoes, we are in the cold entrees kitchen right now, and a bunch of other things, every one of us was doing something but her, so we told her to help us with that, the filling was already cooked it just needed to be mixed with the cream, then fill the tomato, cover it with the top of the tomato, put it in a plate and make it pretty with a creamy sauce. Well she spoiled the cream TWICE, threw to the garbage the top of the tomato and did a poorly job with the plate.
Why did we let her do something then? Well when we get individual exams she fails, and blames us for not letting her do anything and the Chef got angry, so now she is making a recipe and letting the Chef know she fails to do the simple thing?
Have we spoken to her about this? Yes, we've asked her to rethink if this is her career or if she should wait. No we haven't told her that we think she is stupid.
I'm sorry if I sound rude, but I'm sick and tired of her screwing up, and not being able to get her out of our team and getting nasty looks and long talks from the Chef for screwing things I didn't screw and of the Chefs not saying nothing when they've realized what is going on.

An I now abruptly cut this blog, because Grey's Anatomy just started and I'm freaking out about Torres.

BEDA #10 Book Translations.

Hello blog!
Last night I was talking with Ariel about books, and how I might have to buy some books that I want to read in Spanish, because getting them in English is difficult in Mexico, sending books from the US to Mexico via interwebz is expensive and I don't think my parents would agree on paying 30 USD more for a second luggage full of books. I told her that I wasn't too happy about getting translations and this is why.

First of all, books are RARELY translated in Mexico, they are translated in Spain* or Argentina, I've seen some that are translated in Chile and Colombia, and so far just one of all the translated books I've bought or read has been translated in Mexico, and that one book is Looking for Alaska. Thanks John!!

Why don't I like translations?

Well, most of the books I read are fantasy or YA, this means it sometimes have slang, and this changes from country to country, but it is not just the slang that changes the name of things like cellphones or cake also changes from country to country, in the same way it changes in English, though in English you've got things like color and colour or mom and mum or bloody hell instead of ... I can't think of something for that one.

In Spanish changes can sometimes change little things in the canon or plot if you don't check first where the books was translated and if you don't know a bit of the vocabulary of that place.

For example, if you say in Mexico torta you'll get this mental image (image 1) but if you are in Spain or Argentina you'd get this mental image (image 2), this is one of many words that change, we don't call the computer and cellphones the same all over Latin America.

image 1 image 2

I know in English you don't have a different word for speaking to ¨you¨ in a polite way and to ¨you¨ in an informal way. In Spanish we do, we use ¨tu¨ for informal and ¨usted¨ for formal, and obviously the way we use the verbs change, well in Argentina and Colombia people talk to each other in a formal way, even between friends, so in the books it is the same.

Another thing that I don't like about translations, is that some times the words the person or people translating it change the mood of that part of the book, it doesn't happen a lot, but with some books that I've read in Spanish and English there are parts of the books that gave you a completely different idea than what the author was trying to get there, and I really don't like that.

Now, I've been reading translated books for a really long time, and I've had amazing Spanish teachers that have been there to explain to me the slang and words that didn't made sense, so now I could read any translated book easily, but usually it is just too distracting the way the book is translated for me to really enjoy it.

But, if you were someone like my sister or most of my cousins that doesn't like to read, and they for some miraculous reason find a book they are interested in and start reading it, they start finding words they have never even heard before if they haven't seen a Spanish or Argentinian show, so they stop reading, they want the book to be engaging and entertaining, and they don't want to learn, they associate the books to learning or homework so they don't like them, if they find words that they don't understand that means looking up words which means work which means they'd preferred playing a video game. All of this has been expressed to me by some of my cousins, my sis says she gets tired of shouting at me from her room so I can explain to her what the hell is supposed to be happening or what are they saying.

This is my problem with books, if there is a UK and a US edition and so on, why can't they be a Mexico edition and an Argentina edition and a Spain edition, usually in Latin America, and I think all around the globe too, the slang is similar between countries that are neighbors, well people translating the book, in case you haven't realized Argentina is way south from Mexico, our slang is influenced by the US and a tinny bit by Cuba and Guatemala and El Salvador. Not by Argentina or Chile and not by Spain.

So that is my problem with translations, up to this day I haven't been able to read Eragon because the translation is just too distracting, and I haven't found it in English here.

In the past few days I've been told to read Lord of the Rings, Percy Jackson series, The Mortal Instruments series, Uglies series and Leviathan series. I've seen most of this series in Spanish, the LotR I read a bit of it from different editions and didn't like any of them the rest I'll have to check out to see if they are worth buying them now and not getting them next time I'm in the US.

BEDA #9 Quotes make you ______

Hello Blog!

As I told you yesterday I get my blog ideas by something I heard/read/saw, and up to a few minutes ago I had nothing. But then I read Kayley's Hyde (aka Owlssayhoot) blog and it has a quote in there that made me cry. And so now I've got my idea.

I think that being the nerd we are, we hear a piece of soundtrack or music and we remember a sad or happy part in a movie or show and you smile or giggle or cry or make you anxious (Exhibit A).

With images it happens the same.
(exhibits B)

With quotes it happens the same thing, if you read or hear: ¨OI! There's a war going on here!¨ you might, like me, smile. But how about this: ¨... I don't think I've hear you joke since you were -¨ then you might be crying, just like I am now. (exhibits C)

What are the quotes, images or music/soundtrack/IDKW that make you smile or cry or freak the hell out of you?

I hope this wasn't a sad blog, but if it was ¨blame¨ Kayley for putting that quote in there, because I haven't stopped crying since I read it (and then went and look for the video of it to watch and hear it and do more crying).

If you guess which quote it was, leave it in the comments, if one made you laugh or cry, put it in the comment too if you'd like (I mean in Kayley's and in mine).

And because I need one to make me laugh:

BEDA #8 Boring day

Hello Blog!

I've been trying to come up with a subject for today's BEDA, but I haven't been able to come up with anything. With the other posts I saw or heard something that day that made me think about something to blog, but today nothing happened that caught my attention.

So, how about I tell you what I did today? Sound good? No? Then feel free to stop reading.

I woke up late, I was watching videos until late last night, I got to my mom taking off all of my sister's posters from her closet doors, bathroom door and room door. Her room looked kinda naked without all her posters and concert tickets pasted everywhere.

I made some french toast for breakfast, first time I make them first time I eat it, I'm not sure how I feel about it, apparently you need the bread to be a bit dry for it to taste right and not to soak all of the egg, so maybe I'll let some bread dry and try again some other time.

Then I went with my mom to my sis HS to give her something she forget, I took the chance to talk to my old English HS teacher to ask her something about a future trip, this reminds me Ariel we need to talk.

After that we went to eat and I had some fish cooked in a Peruvian way that was amazing.

I got back home, started watching some Vampire Diaries and then had to go out again to go pick some paint because our house is having a make-over. And I've been watching more Vampire Diaries since I got back.

So that has been my day, pretty slow, but I'm still sick so it is fine by me.
